not your typical girl

Yes, I'm a girl, but I'm not your typical girl. I was never the type to get up at 6AM to do my hair and makeup before I left the house... nor was I the girl that wore heels and dresses everywhere no matter where I was going. I'm actually just the opposite - I roll out of bed in the morning, put my hair up in a clip, put some clothes on, squeeze into my sneakers and I'm out the door! I never truly do my hair and I rarely wear makeup - I buy a lot of it, but I never seem to use it. If I do my makeup, it's normally a special occasion or I just want to feel pretty for the day - everyone has those days, right?

So yesterday I ended up feeling quite unattractive and wanted to give myself a little makeover, if you want to call it that. I got a pedicure, a manicure, eyebrows waxed (these are part of my normal routine), but I didn't feel pretty enough. This will show you how pathetic I really am - I ended up looking up videos of how to curl my hair. I do have to admit though that there are some really good how-to videos for hair and makeup all over the internet. Anyway, I found a bunch and decided to try it....

And here's how it turned out....

Just kidding! For real now.... here's the result...

The curler slipped out of my hand - I burnt my neck!! With half of my head curled, I stopped. Maybe I'll try again another day.

Curling irons are evil I tell you.... EVIL!

  2. I'm like you. I sleep as late as I can before I absolutely have to get up. And I can honestly say that I have also burnt my neck before! It sucks! I had people asking me all day what happened or my friends asking me why I had a hickey. I hope your day gets better! Happy Tuesday! :)

  7. I have done the same thing too! Except I burned my ear instead of my neck. Curlers might actually be evil! But after years of burning myself (and burning my hair) I've decided it's worth all that pain! I love the outcome!!

  11. hahaha, love the illustrations! I have really straight hair and would LOVE to get it to curl but it just doesn't seem to be wanting the same things as I do for it. Boo.

I'm totally that type of girl too. I did go thru a phase where I would dress up all the time... that didn't last long. Took up too much time and for what? To impress someone? Like I care! :)

  12. I'm jealous of your pedicure, a manicure, eyebrow waxing! I've never had my eyebrows waxed and to be honest never had a pedicure in my life! I am a girly girl for sure, but I've never been good at curling my own hair either! Your story sounds quite like some of mine! haha it's so funny, I love the illustrations too! I love your posts.

  16. You are so funny! Another funny thing is that I am like you in that I do not always get all dolled up despite my love for beauty and fashion. I just sometimes do not feel like doing my hair or applying makeup for the day. However, there are days when I sometimes do! Thanks for checking out my blog! It is greatly appreciated! I am now following! I love your blog!

  27. Once upon a time, I had a hicky on my neck. My friend's advice was to say I burned myself with my curling iron. I thought no one would believe that. Now I know a curling iron burn is possible on your neck. Thanks. :)
