Soo this past weekend was actually pretty decent. The BF and I ended up going to a family BBQ at his grandmother's on Sunday, which turned out to be a lot of fun. The weather was perfect - in the mid 80's and sunny - and... well... it was just a good time for all of us!
The BF and his family played croquette for hours - yes, of all the games they could play, they chose to play croquette (weird, I know, but it looked like they were having tons of fun and I have to admit I had fun watching!). We were all outside way past when the mosquitoes came out - basically until the sun went down. Well, that was Sunday.
Monday night, I was just laying around when I started to feel a little itchy. It wasn't just in one place either - it was a bunch of different places all over my body. I was wondering what the heck could have caused the itchiness. Then I remembered... I was outside with mosquitoes all night the night before! I thought that if I had any bug bites, I would have noticed them Sunday night. Well, I guess not because I sure was itchy as hell! ... and not just on my legs either. Those damn mosquitoes got me right on the @$$! TWICE - one on each cheek!
Of all the places I could have gotten bit by these mosquitoes, I didn't think my butt was one of them! It's not like I was butt-@$$ naked or even wearing shorts... I was wearing capris! Damn mosquitoes!

florida, here i come
Some of you may know that my family has a vacation home in Florida. Well, that's where the BF and I will be less than 24 hours from now! We'll be waking up at 5:30am (yuck!) to catch an 8am flight and we will arrive in Florida around 10:30am. Soo basically this is what we'll be doing tomorrow morning:
Sorry for the squiggly lines! I'm nervous for some reason. Anyway... we'll be there until Monday, but don't worry because I'm pretty sure I'll still be blogging since I'll have my laptop and wi-fi internet access at the house. I'm going to try spending as much time as possible outside working on my tan by the pool and fishing, but it's supposed to be in the upper 80's and scattered thunderstorms the entire time we're there, so I may spend some time inside.
The last time I was down there, which was in April, I didn't get to see a thunderstorm - we didn't even have a single drop of rain! This time, they're predicting scattered showers and storms while we're there, so I'm really looking forward to seeing a good thunderstorm.
Soo that's what I'll be doing this weekend! I just wanted to let everyone know in advance since I may or may not be blogging (most likely I will). I'm soo excited! Florida, here I come!

ouch! wtf was that?!
I'm a very self-conscious person - I'm always worried about what other people think of me. I know it's wrong and I shouldn't worry so much, but I do. It's not that I'm not myself (believe me, I'm myself), it's just I think and worry way too much.
I'm much too lazy to do my hair and makeup every morning, but that doesn't mean I don't care about the way I look. I always try to look presentable no matter where I go - this just means I don't leave the house looking like a complete mess. So obviously since I don't do my makeup every day, I never really see my face close up.
Anyway... getting to the point - the BF and I were just lounging around the house one day last week when he started sweetly rubbing my cheek. Well, it turns out that he somehow found a hair! No, this is NOT a normal occurrence and I do NOT have facial hair - I'm 22 damn it! He realized that this wasn't just any hair though... it was a monster hair!
At least it was blonde! Anyway... I told him to try pulling it out, so he did and I let out a nasty scream because seriously, this thing was about 2 inches long (wtf?)! Don't ask me how it got there or that long because I have absolutely no idea. I quickly ran to the bathroom, grabbed my handy-dandy tweezers, and plucked that baby out like a mofo! Be gone monster hair - and please never come back!

marionette, me.
Soo the BF and I were super bored the other night. We sat around for about an hour discussing possibilities of things to do....
So in an attempt to make our boredom a little less torturous, the BF decided to play a game with me. That game was make Katie into a marionette.
Okay, maybe I didn't mean it literally, but what happened was the BF grabbed hold of my feet while I was laying on my back and started waving them around in the air (like he just didn't care - yea, sorry, I had to do it). He was actually having a great time and I couldn't have been laughing harder. I think it was a fun night after all! .... Seriously, how lame are we?

calm down, i'm not that bad am i?
The BF was sick all last week with a nasty cold which led to the bronchitis he has now. Fortunately he's feeling a heck of a lot better, but still has a small cough. Anyway... the entire time he was sick, I wanted to make things easier on him. He was stuck in bed for a couple of days with really nothing to do but watch TV (not that he doesn't love TV), but to make things worse the TV schedule was just horrible! It seemed like every channel he turned to had absolutely nothing decent on to watch. Finally, he resorted to putting on a movie we had lying around the house.
Besides trying to make his in-bed experience better (boy that sounds dirty; it's not meant to be) I wanted to make things easier on him when we had to run a few errands - so he wasn't getting off the hook entirely. I figured I would be nice and decided that if we wanted to go out anywhere, I would drive.
Now, I never drive - I hate driving! I've had my license for about 5 years now, but I only drive when I have to; for instance, if the BF has a few drinks at the bar, of course I drive (neither of us are that stupid)! But like I said, this week was different since he wasn't feeling well. Unfortunately though, this is what I had to deal with the entire time I was driving last week:
Okay, maybe I exaggerated the situation a little bit, but I guarantee you that's what he was thinking. And either way I'm seriously starting to believe that he really doesn't like my driving...
Have a great weekend!

a stroll down memory lane: how'd that get in there?
Okay, so there are so many memories I have of my college career. But one thing I remember more vividly than others...
The BF and I attended college together - by together I mean we took every single class together for 4 years straight. I know what you're thinking you're both out of your damn minds, right? Well, somehow it just worked for us. Some of our classes we took online, but most were on campus. We would try our hardest every semester not to take early classes, which for us meant any earlier than 11am. Well, unfortunately there were a few semesters that we were forced to take 8am classes (yuck!)
8am classes meant that we had to wake up around 7am (even more yuck!). Now, at 7am the BF and I obviously aren't truly functioning human beings - we're barely conscious! So we would get out of bed, brush our teeth, grab our things, and we'd be out the door. However, I specifically remember one day that I must have been less awake than normal. We started off our day the same as usual, sat down in the classroom with all the other students and waited for class to start. As we were waiting, I reached into my purse to grab a piece of gum for myself and guess what I found and pulled out instead??
My television remote control! Every student was looking at me like I was some weirdo! I was so incredibly embarrassed, but I got over it quickly and everyone just had a good laugh. I told you I was less awake than usual!

for just one day
Okay, so I've noticed that most of us that follow blogs here are females. With that being said, I have a question for all of you. If you could be anything for just one day what would it be??
I've thought about this for many, many years... You would not believe how many things I have come up with, but it's always that one thing that comes back every time. I'm almost positive all of you reading this have thought about the same thing at one time or another, so here goes....
If I could be anything for just one day I would be a guy! - Not it a weird way. Now, I'm not saying I want to be a male forever in any way, but seriously, I just want to know what it's like to be a man... and everything that comes with it! I mean there is just so much that we don't know as girls and it kind of bothers me. Maybe I'm just weird, but I really am curious to know what it's like to be a dude! Honestly, even though I would want to do this, I think I'd be a little freaked out if it actually happened.
Am I weird? Have you thought about this too? Anyway... think about this... if you could be anything for just one day, what would you be???

sleep-time ouchies
The BF has been sick with a cold the past few days which gave me the opportunity to watch him sleep - no, not in a creepy way! NyQuil really knocked him on his @$$, so he was zonked out before I even turned the lights off. Normally he gets the pleasure of watching me sleep since he's always up later than me, but last night was my turn!
He's told me so many times before that I do weird things in my sleep, like have weird conversations with myself. Obviously he has taken quite an interest in my sleep patterns (because they're oh-so-interesting - NOT). Well, last night I got the chance to observe his, and boy did I learn a lot!
This is what happens when he sleeps....
This is apparently what happens when I sleep...
This must be what happens when WE sleep...

not your typical girl
Yes, I'm a girl, but I'm not your typical girl. I was never the type to get up at 6AM to do my hair and makeup before I left the house... nor was I the girl that wore heels and dresses everywhere no matter where I was going. I'm actually just the opposite - I roll out of bed in the morning, put my hair up in a clip, put some clothes on, squeeze into my sneakers and I'm out the door! I never truly do my hair and I rarely wear makeup - I buy a lot of it, but I never seem to use it. If I do my makeup, it's normally a special occasion or I just want to feel pretty for the day - everyone has those days, right?
So yesterday I ended up feeling quite unattractive and wanted to give myself a little makeover, if you want to call it that. I got a pedicure, a manicure, eyebrows waxed (these are part of my normal routine), but I didn't feel pretty enough. This will show you how pathetic I really am - I ended up looking up videos of how to curl my hair. I do have to admit though that there are some really good how-to videos for hair and makeup all over the internet. Anyway, I found a bunch and decided to try it....
And here's how it turned out....
Just kidding! For real now.... here's the result...
The curler slipped out of my hand - I burnt my neck!! With half of my head curled, I stopped. Maybe I'll try again another day.
Curling irons are evil I tell you.... EVIL!

a saucy mess
Soo the laundry was done without problems this week... Were the dishes?
Well, to start off... a couple nights ago, the BF and I made dinner for my family - homemade spaghetti and meatballs. We all ate and enjoyed the dinner, but you all know what comes after eating, right? DISHES! The BF and I have this routine where we both cook and afterwards he does the dishes (yes, I'm super lucky to have a talented man to put dishes in the dishwasher, I know). Well, I decided to give him a break for the night and I took it upon myself to do the dishes, which probably wasn't the best idea.
As I started loading the dishwasher, the BF was hovering over me as if I didn't know how to do the dishes. I thought to myself I know how to do the dishes.. I'm not stupid! He continued to hover as I loaded the plates, the strainer, and all of the utensils. Finally I loaded the last dish (or should I say pot which moments before had been filled with homemade spaghetti sauce). As soon as I put the pot in the dishwasher, the BF gave me that look that basically says you're doing it all wrong. He then told me not to put the sauce pot in the dishwasher because it won't get clean unless we hand wash it. Well, I insisted on putting it in the dishwasher anyway and even bet him that it would be clean when we took it out. I turned the dishwasher on... there was no turning back now.
The next morning I opened and unloaded the dishwasher and what did I find??...... Well, the sauce pot was perfectly clean, but our white plates and strainer were PINK!
I couldn't believe it! How could I possibly mess up doing the dishes.. in a dishwasher?! I can understand breaking dishes (yes, unfortunately I have done this before), but turning them pink - that's just unheard of. Maybe dishes just aren't my thing... Maybe we should just stick to the "BF does dishes, I do laundry" routine. After all, if I keep this up we'll be spending A LOT of money on new dishes every week. No big deal - just another FAIL!

ew, get off of me!
As some of you may know, I went to an anime convention (yes, I said anime convention) with the BF and our friends about 2 weeks ago. I know I told you about the conversation on the car ride home, but I forgot to mention anything that happened during our time at the convention center. This place was absolutely nuts! There were so many people dressed up as their favorite characters... so many artists selling their artwork.. so many vendors selling various products. The people dressed up were my favorite. It was so interesting to see how many people actually dress up to go to these things. Well, unfortunately not everyone was dressed up....
As we walked to the vendors section of the convention center, we heard people running behind us so we turned around to see what was going on. To our surprise, there was a somewhat large man running behind us without a shirt. Apparently he thought he was dressing up as a character - yeah, right!... We all know he just wanted an excuse to run around in public without a shirt, right? Okay, I'm getting off track, but this man was somewhat large, running towards us, and VERY HAIRY! I had made it a point to stay away from him no matter what. We started walking toward the vendor section entrance again - I was leading the group with the BF behind me and our friends behind him; basically single-file. Next thing I knew the large, hairy man without a shirt rubbed up against me!!
I was mortified! Completely disgusted and grossed out! How was it that I tried my hardest to stay away from this man and he ran into me?!? I still don't know. As we entered the vendor section of the convention I discovered that I had disinfecting wipes in my purse (yes, I have anti-bacterial liquid or wipes on me at all times - what can I say... I'm a germaphobe). Immediately, I opened the wipe pack and started scrubbing my arm like you would not believe (the people around me must have thought I was super crazy). What I really needed was a shower, but unfortunately I didn't have that convenience at the time. I'm sure you know as well as I do that the very first thing I did when I got home was take a very hot shower!

laundry day payback
So today was laundry day and I really wasn't in the mood to do it. It's just takes too much time out of the day - you have to separate the whites from the blacks and the colors, then do one load at a time meaning at the least you're wasting 6 hours out of your day to do laundry, which isn't what I want to spend my day doing. No one does! Unfortunately it still had to get done.
Well, earlier today the BF and I grabbed some lunch from a local deli. We came home, sat down to eat our sandwiches, and guess who joins us??.... Molly (my quite lovable yet annoying puppy)! As we're eating she starts whining. I like to talk to Molly as if she's a kid, so I said "be good and you'll get some roast beef when I'm done"... Well she started begging and barking for my food, so the BF chased her out of the room. You're probably thinking where does laundry day come into this? Am I right? Don't worry... I'm getting there. We finished up with lunch and I took a little piece of roast beef outside to give Molly. Next thing I knew, the BF was running towards me - he took the roast beef out of my hand and threw it in the bushes outside the house. He said "she was a bad girl! You can't give her treats when she's bad!". Unfortunately Molly saw that he had thrown the roast beef in the bush and she immediately jumped into the bushes to find it. She spent about a half hour in there and never found it. The BF teased her! I felt horrible! Soo I ended up going outside to find the roast beef in the bush for Molly - luckily I found it. She was so excited!
Even though Molly still got her treat, I felt like the BF needed to "pay" for teasing her. I thought to myself for a while and finally decided that HE should do laundry! For real, I always do the laundry... I thought it was about time he did it. Well he brought the laundry baskets to the basement, sat down, and actually started separating the clothing into whites, blacks, and colors.
I just watched, slack-jawed of course in amazement as he put the first load of laundry in. Two hours later... All of our clothes were still perfectly intact! Incredible! And the best past is that now I know he is completely capable of doing laundry! Laundry day was absolutely a success!

when i grow up
Today I got to thinking about potential careers. I graduated college with a bachelor's degree in business and marketing, but I really don't think I would enjoy doing that every day for basically the rest of my life. I've been out of school for over a year now and I still have yet to come up with a job I would absolutely enjoy, or at the very least wouldn't mind having. Until today.... I finally figured it out...
I want to be a professional tornado chaser when I grow up! I know I should already be grown up, but I don't like to think of it like that. I don't want to have that grown up responsibility - none of us really do. Anyway, I think it'd be soo much fun to chase tornadoes for a living, especially this year since the US has already had so many devastating tornadoes across the country. I've been watching a lot of shows about tornadoes and storm chasing lately - I want to be them! I want to be right there in the middle of a tornado taking measurements and all that fancy stuff that I have no clue how to do!
Can you imagine me..... a storm chaser?!?

let the tears fall
I had nothing to do last night! The BF was working on art commissions so I was free to do basically anything I wanted. I didn't feel like going out, so instead I read through comments (I LOVED them all!)... I did the dishes... I browsed the internet a little bit. After a while I started flipping through the channels to see if there was anything good on TV....
If you follow me on Twitter, you may know that I ended up watching Dear John (the only reason I was able to watch it was because the BF had his headphones on). It's such a good movie, but DAMN it makes me ball my eyes out! I've seen the movie over 3 times so I thought I would be able to watch it without crying.. Well, I was totally wrong! I tried to hold back, but the tears just kept streaming down my face the entire movie. It turned out to be a great night. Yes, I cried, but you know what... I love the movie so much that I didn't care!
P.S. Our chicken parmigiana dinner last night was amazing! Thanks so much for all the comments :)

determined to prove him wrong
I've been feeling pretty lazy lately - probably due to the blah weather we've been having. First it rained for two weeks straight, then we had a heat wave, and now it's unfortunately back to rain. I needed something to give me a little boost of energy and get myself in that feel good spirit.
Now, I like to spend money - not necessarily on stuff I need, but just stuff I want at the moment (big problem, I know). Well... I was at the store a few days ago and decided I just needed to have a yoga mat. Never in my life have I done or even thought of doing yoga; I barely ever exercise! The BF tried to talk me out of it like everything else, but this time I WON!
I insisted on showing him that it was a good purchase by exercising that night. This was the first time in a very, very, very long time that I even tried to exercise, but I had to prove the BF wrong! I was determined.
I've had the yoga mat for about a week now, exercising every night, and I realized that ever since I bought the mat, I have felt so much better about myself and my body has felt amazing. I never thought that stretching would make my body feel as good as it does, but damn it feels incredible! I've always wanted dancer's legs - they're thin, toned, and perfect! Now that I have my yoga mat, I'm totally into exercising and working out (maybe I'll even get those dancer's legs without dancing? Yeah right!). Either way, I love it! In your face BF! I love him, I really do :)
Look out world, you're getting a new me!

to try something new
The other night I thought it would be fun to take up a new hobby. I wanted to make myself a bikini! I told you I was addicted!
Never in my life have I sewn before, nor did I have any idea what goes into making a bathing suit - All I knew was that I was on a mission: make myself a bikini. Instantly I started to research what exactly I needed; what kind of fabrics, how much of it, what kind of thread, etc. The next morning, I got up and rushed out the door to Jo-Ann Fabrics. An hour later, I returned home with some supplies that included some black nylon/spandex fabric, some leopard print polyester fabric, rubber linings, and some hot pink thread. I thought this thing would look awesome! I was so excited when I got home, I just couldn't wait to start on it!
I took all the fabric and thread out of the bag and started drawing out a template for the bikini bottom. I tried to copy the bottom of one of my other bathing suit bottoms, but when I did it ended up looking like it was wayy too big for my butt. I got so frustrated after 10 minutes, that I gave up! Yes, I gave up!
I know, I know... You're thinking how in the world did she think she'd pick up sewing in 10 minutes? Well, I didn't, but I'm crazy, so I thought it would be a simple task without knowing anything about sewing. I WAS WRONG! My problem?... I have no patience. The BF thought I was out of my mind the whole time, but he went with it anyway. I knew he was right the whole time, but I don't admit stuff like that. I was crazy to think I could sew my own bathing suit, let alone pick up sewing and be good at it within 10 minutes. How ridiculous, right?! So, the next day we went back to Jo-Ann Fabrics and returned everything. MISSION: FAILED!, but I'll tell you one thing.... it felt damn good getting that $40 back!
Unfortunately, I don't learn from mistakes like this one.... I actually do this quite often. If you're following me, you'll quickly see how often I do this and how often I fail! Eww - I hate that word!
Never in my life have I sewn before, nor did I have any idea what goes into making a bathing suit - All I knew was that I was on a mission: make myself a bikini. a first for me
At 22 years old, I should have played beer pong before. Well, I haven't! I know what you're thinking... how lame can this girl be?! To tell you the truth, I haven't had a single drink since I was 16 - I'm scared, but that's for another day.
So I ended up playing beer pong today at a friend's graduation party. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into and had not a clue what the rules were. I figured it couldn't be that complicated if you play it when you're drunk. I seriously amazed myself. I was sooo good! My very first shot, I got it in the cup!
Sorry for the completely overexposed photo, but I had to post it since this was my very first shot. Anyway... I was soo proud of myself! I couldn't believe that I had never in my life played this game and my first shot went in a cup. The BF and I won 2 games in a row. It was like I had a hidden talent.... Maybe I should go pro?! Yeah, right. What a great night!

toilet talk
I ended up going to AnimeNext for the first time ever today with the BF and two of our really good friends. Let me tell you.... It was such an interesting experience! I'm not really interested in anime, but I had a lot of fun anyway. I pretty much went to see some of my favorite artists. I know I said I wasn't interested in anime, and that is true, but the artwork that some of these people create are just amazing!
On the ride home, we had one of the strangest conversations. Now, don't get me wrong... when we're with these two friends, we definitely have strange conversations, but I'm not sure anything else can top this one - TOILETS! We had about an hour drive home and we spent half of it talking about how great my toilet is.
Some really great points during this conversation included:
1. The flushing is similar to that on an airplane; does its job and does it quickly!
2. The seat goes down slowly; no slamming = no loud noises during your middle-of-the-night pee.
3. It's just perfect, damn it!
Who in their right mind talks in-depth about toilets for a half hour?? Only us! Since we had this highly intelligent conversation about my toilet, I felt it was only right to write today's blog from my toilet.
Just kidding... or am I?!

Eeek!
The past few days I've noticed SPIDERS ARE TAKING OVER MY LIFE! I know I live in the woods (no, I'm not one of those hick people), but come on! I don't need these gross things invading my room - they scare the $h1t out of me!
Seriously, it feels like they're taking over my life. I found TWO in my room the other night and made absolutely sure that they got killed before I went to bed. This was pretty hard, considering the BF doesn't kill anything! I needed them dead and fast! It must have been my lucky night because the BF actually decided to kill the damn things! :) Yea, normally I don't like killing things either, but spiders... they're a totally different story. They're disgusting - creepy, crawly, and just plain GROSS! Like I said, the BF decided to kill them, but we didn't know that the things were fast as hell! We killed the first one within seconds of seeing it, but the second one wanted to take us for a ride. Now, I'm not a pig, but my bedroom isn't necessarily the best room for spider hunting. I didn't see it anymore - I was freaking out! I didn't want to get off my bed in case he just thought he'd pop out and scare me. The thing decided it was going to hide under the bed for 10 minutes while we moved everything that he could possibly be hiding under. Finally I saw his body poke out from under the bed (my side, of course). I told the BF to get the fly swatter and get ready to kill the darn thing!
Finally, the thing was DEAD!
Believe it or not, unfortunately this wasn't the worst spider hunting adventure we've had. YUCK! I think it's about time I move, don't you think?

Flying High
MISSION: ACCOMOPLISHED! .... or was it?? .......
In March, I booked a flight to Florida to visit the vacation house my mom bought earlier this year. The last time I booked a flight, I cancelled it within 3 hours because I started crying (WTF?) when I started packing, so this was a major deal. Two weeks later.... it was that time.... time to get my butt on a jet to Florida! I had an 8:00AM flight, which meant I had to be out of the house at 6AM (yuck!). I was soo tired that I had the calmest ride to the airport - I wasn't nervous at all!.... Until I got to the airport.
Once I got through security, I looked around for a Sprite (don't ask, it's my comfort drink... I'm neurotic remember?). Of course, they didn't have it anywhere in the airport! Just my luck! I was freaking out - I almost cancelled the trip because they didn't have Sprite! I settled for something else and decided I would try to get my seat changed hoping it would help me feel a little more comfortable on the flight. I ended up getting my seat changed to ROW 1! Literally ROW 1! I was also able to have a flight attendant waiting for me with a Sprite when I stepped on the plane (wow, JetBlue spoiled the $h1t out of me didn't they?). I was soo nervous when I got on the plane that I was afraid I was going to end up getting off. Instead, the cabin door closed and I was on my way to Florida!
I landed in Tampa and life was goooood!
