Okay, so I know it's been a while and I'm so sorry. I have seriously been the laziest person since I got back from Florida on Monday, but from now on I think I'll be posting regularly :)
Anyway... we had sooo much fun in Florida and we can't wait to go back - we're really thinking about moving there. While we were there, the BF and I spent a lot of time fishing. We caught a whole lot of fish, obviously we released them right away. We fished all day for the first 3 days until we were rudely interrupted by a nasty catfish. By nasty catfish, I mean a SPIKY catfish!
Catfish apparently have really sharp fins on their sides and back. And... well... the BF got stuck by one of them!
Of course I freaked out because... well... it went right through the top of his knuckle! His finger swelled up - basically it was double the normal size.
Finally, the BF's finger is now back to normal size and feeling better. We're just thankful that it wasn't a serious injury. It could've been worse... but we're so happy it wasn't.

oh, the hotness!
Okay, so I know this is Florida, but DAMN it is hot! When I was here in April, it was not as hot as it is now - it's about 90 degrees outside and feels like 100. That is not my kind of weather, but I'm dealing with it of course.
We've been spending most of our time by the pool, but that doesn't really cool us down considering that the pool itself is 90 degrees. Yes, I said 90 degrees!
Basically, it's really hot! Soo anyway, here's a few photos I wanted to share:

florida, here i come
Some of you may know that my family has a vacation home in Florida. Well, that's where the BF and I will be less than 24 hours from now! We'll be waking up at 5:30am (yuck!) to catch an 8am flight and we will arrive in Florida around 10:30am. Soo basically this is what we'll be doing tomorrow morning:
Sorry for the squiggly lines! I'm nervous for some reason. Anyway... we'll be there until Monday, but don't worry because I'm pretty sure I'll still be blogging since I'll have my laptop and wi-fi internet access at the house. I'm going to try spending as much time as possible outside working on my tan by the pool and fishing, but it's supposed to be in the upper 80's and scattered thunderstorms the entire time we're there, so I may spend some time inside.
The last time I was down there, which was in April, I didn't get to see a thunderstorm - we didn't even have a single drop of rain! This time, they're predicting scattered showers and storms while we're there, so I'm really looking forward to seeing a good thunderstorm.
Soo that's what I'll be doing this weekend! I just wanted to let everyone know in advance since I may or may not be blogging (most likely I will). I'm soo excited! Florida, here I come!

Flying High
MISSION: ACCOMOPLISHED! .... or was it?? .......
In March, I booked a flight to Florida to visit the vacation house my mom bought earlier this year. The last time I booked a flight, I cancelled it within 3 hours because I started crying (WTF?) when I started packing, so this was a major deal. Two weeks later.... it was that time.... time to get my butt on a jet to Florida! I had an 8:00AM flight, which meant I had to be out of the house at 6AM (yuck!). I was soo tired that I had the calmest ride to the airport - I wasn't nervous at all!.... Until I got to the airport.
Once I got through security, I looked around for a Sprite (don't ask, it's my comfort drink... I'm neurotic remember?). Of course, they didn't have it anywhere in the airport! Just my luck! I was freaking out - I almost cancelled the trip because they didn't have Sprite! I settled for something else and decided I would try to get my seat changed hoping it would help me feel a little more comfortable on the flight. I ended up getting my seat changed to ROW 1! Literally ROW 1! I was also able to have a flight attendant waiting for me with a Sprite when I stepped on the plane (wow, JetBlue spoiled the $h1t out of me didn't they?). I was soo nervous when I got on the plane that I was afraid I was going to end up getting off. Instead, the cabin door closed and I was on my way to Florida!
I landed in Tampa and life was goooood!

A Little Pit Stop
I'll start out by saying I'm a BIG BABY! Instead of going straight to booking a flight to Florida, I decided to go for a discovery flight at a small local airport. I know you're asking yourselves "why couldn't she just get on the damn jet and get her @$$ to Florida?!", right? Well, like I said... I'm a big baby! I had no idea what this discovery flight entailed. I walked into the hangar wondering which plane I'd be getting into. There were some gorgeous planes in there and I was getting so excited about flying in one of them. Of course, that wasn't the case..... Instead this is the plane we walked up to:
Soo I finally got myself on the small plane - just me and the instructor. I was horrified as we taxied to the runway. I wasn't familiar with the noises in a small airplane at all, so every little noise freaked me out. We were given the go-ahead to take off and next thing I knew I was in the air. A little bumpy during take-off, but that's what I expected especially since it was a little windy that day. We only got up to about 2,500 feet, but that was such an amazing experience. I got lucky for once and got to tour the area the day after major flooding had happened. I got to see the full extent of the flooding from 2,500 feet... I also got to fly directly over my house!! It was just a great experience. I knew that if I could fly in both a private charter jet AND a small little Cessna, I could definitely fly in a commercial jet.
I was now on a mission! MISSION: BOOK FLIGHT TO FLORIDA!

Fear of flying: Conquered?
Afraid of flying at 22. I know what you're thinking "What a baby!".. Well that's what I thought too! Every year... I mean EVERY YEAR for the past 6 years, my mom has asked me to visit Florida with her and the family. My response the past six years: NO. I didn't understand what was wrong with me, but I knew I couldn't get on a plane. It's not like I hadn't flown soo many times before! It just seemed so ridiculous and I felt like a baby. At a certain point, I decided I really needed to conquer the $h1t out of my fear of flying. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in New Jersey without the possibility of visiting other states and even other countries! I've always wanted to visit soo many places, but I knew I would never get there with this fear putting some serious weight on me. I did the only thing I thought would make my fear of flying magically disappear.....
I emailed every small airport and every charter company in the area. I didn't think any of them would respond since they must get a billion email a day from much more important people. Next thing I knew... I GOT A RESPONSE! I was scheduled with a private charter company to take a short flight on a private jet - and yes I said PRIVATE JET! I had a week to prepare for this, and I was sooo extremely nervous. Never in my life did I expect to fly on a private jet - this kind of thing normally costs over $1,000 per hour! I flew for free! I was sooo excited the day of the flight that I wasn't even really nervous. At that point, I knew that my anxiety and fear of flying was just stupid and something made up in my baby brain. I finally stepped foot on the jet and I felt like a million bucks.. literally I felt like a millionaire! We taxied to the runway and took off to the skies. This was the most amazing feeling that I had felt in soo long. I was soo proud of myself that I was speechless. I just kept staring out the window with such a smile on my face. After the flight, the first thing I did was call my mom (she was flying to Florida that night) and said "I FRIGGIN' DID IT!" She then wanted me to take a trip to FL with her in April soooo.....
Next step was to book a flight to Florida! Did I really conquer my fear of flying?? ......
